The staff at Amakaya Backpackers is amazing! They went above and beyond to help me retrieve my lost credit card, arranging for it to be picked up by the next Baz Bus. The rooms, beds, bar, and wifi were all perfect. The location is great, with a short walk to town and the beach.
Felt looked after, no complaints.

The room was spacious and had a cozy vibe, with a double bed and 2 bunk beds. It felt like a home away from home.
The shared bathroom located next to the dorms was a bit inconvenient, but it might not bother everyone.

We had all the mod-cons like Checkers Blue and fibre internet to stay connected and get our daily dose of Insta. But the best part was being surrounded by national parks and internationally beloved beaches. We hiked, biked, paddled, and did so much more within just a few minutes of our home base. And the tours we took in the Garden Route area were an absolute blast! It was like going on an Intrepid Adventure every single day. Amakaya is definitely the place to be for young adventurers like us!
If there's one thing we wished for, it would be a better party scene for us young, party-going people. Don't get us wrong, there were plenty of amazing things to do and the vibe was chill, but we were hoping for a bit more nightlife and opportunities to let loose.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. They gave us great recommendations for activities around town and made us feel welcomed. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and the location was perfect for exploring the area. the communal kitchen was well-equipped and clean.
The room was very hot and stuffy at night and the lockers in the room weren't secure enough for our belongings. , there were a lot of rules posted on the walls, which made us feel a bit restricted during our stay.

The location of the hostel is a great advantage as it is close to exotic places near the beach and restaurants. It is also situated in the city center and next to a taxi rank. the hostel offers breakfast that is enjoyable. the bar located upstairs is a nice feature for meeting people and having a fun experience.
The accommodation lacks proper staff presence and security.

Friendly and available staff
During our stay at Amakaya Backpackers And Apartments, we were impressed by the friendly and available staff. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They gave us a warm welcome and took the time to show us around, even though we were only staying for one evening. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Despite the building not being very welcoming, the staff made up for it with their excellent service. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its lovely friendly atmosphere.

the staff were so friendly and helpful, it made it feel like a home away from home. the kitchen was well-equipped and there was a stunning roof deck and bar that offered a lovely view. It's in a great location with easy access to everything. the WiFi was fast and reliable, which was a huge bonus. I appreciated the fact that each fridge had its own shelf, making it easy to keep track of my food.
The hot water didn't always work, which was a bit of a nuisance at times. the shower could use a new shelf as the current one was rusty.
